FTF Racing, one of the premier names in competitive simulation motorsports, has announced the 2023 ModernRacingPrints.com FTF1 Series, an 11-race open-wheel championship taking place this summer from April through August. Action will kick off on April 21st & 22nd with the U.S. 500.
“We at FTF are really excited for the return of FTF1 and to be working with Modern Racing Prints and Matt Breuer this season," said FTF Racing co-founder & administrator Justin Melillo. "Open wheel racing is at the core foundation of the beginning days of FTF and to have an avenue to bring back not only the series, but the Rectangle 500 for a second year is just awesome. We can’t wait for things to get underway next month!”
"The sim racing community has been a huge part of our business from day one," said Modern Racing Prints owner Matt Breuer. "We're thrilled to get the chance to partner with the team at FTF Racing to put some exciting open wheel racing events back on the calendar this year.
The series will be with contested on iRacing with the Dallara iR-01, a prototype car developed in 2020 that combines the characteristics of modern Formula 1 and 1990s-era CART. Originally designed exclusively for high speed road courses, the car was revisited by iRacing this winter to develop an oval racing package. The proposed 11-race schedule will take full advantage of theses updates, featuring seven oval races, including the return of the Rectangle 500 on July 22nd, and four road courses. All races will be held on Friday and Saturday nights and will begin at 9:00-9:30 PM Eastern Time. The race schedule is as follows:
- April 22: U.S. 500 at Michigan (Oval)
- April 28: Pocono 400 at Pocono (Oval)
- May 5: Phoenix 200 at Phoenix (Oval)
- May 12: TBA at Spa-Francorchamps (Road)
- June 2: Texas 600k at Texas (Legacy) (Oval)
- June 9: 24 Laps of Le Mans at Le Mans (Road)
- June 16: TBA at TBA Road Course (Road)
- June 30: Chicago 300 at Chicagoland (Oval)
- July 22: Rectangle 500 at Indy Oval (Oval)
- August 4: TBA at Watkins Glen (Road)
- August 18: FTF.GG 500 at Fontana (Oval)
